About Us
We are a husband and wife team, Pat and Ali, born and bred Bostonians who live and breathe, Bon Me. It all started when we entered a food truck contest in Boston on a whim and surprised ourselves by winning. Now, we are food trucking full time with the help of some awesome employees that help us raise our big yellow baby.
Never been to Bon Me before? Most first timers order our sandwich, a decidedly non-authentic banh mi (cause if you want a classic banh mi there are plenty of great places to get one in Boston!), which is how we named our food truck in the first place (banh mi à Bon Me). Regular enjoy our noodle salads, rice bowls, and now that it is winter, noodle soups.
Who is Bon Me?
Ali (chef and owner): Ali was adament about entering a Boston food truck contest that got Bon Me started because she loves food trucks and the idea just tickled her. Little did she know it would be more than a full time job! Ali is also the director of food services for a K-12 school in Newton, fighting in the trenches of the school lunch revolution; on a mission to replace thaw-and-serve with real food.
Pat (numbers guy, owner, customer service expert, part-time dishwasher, truck maintenance man, social media maven, truck driver, #4 taste taster): Pat was on his way using his graduate degree in urban planning when Ali decided for both of them that they should enter a food truck contest. Pat said okay and put together a fabulous plan for a Vietnamese food truck. In October 2010, Pat stopped scouring the interwebs for a job and committed to food trucking full time.
Before food trucking, Pat studied econ at H…. (some local school) and worked on Wall St as an investment banker and derivatives trader, so you don’t want to invite him to your next poker game. He moved back to Boston a few years ago for grad school and then found his life’s passion running a food truck!
